What exactly does AI Technologist do?

Accepted Answer

It accepts a design drawing, extracts facts, builds a draft technology JSON (ESKD-compliant template_payload), asks clarifying questions, and rebuilds the result. It's a base draft for the technical documentation package, not the final document.

Which drawing formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

PDF, TIFF (.tif/.tiff), JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg). PNG and WEBP are supported at the image processing level and can be enabled in the UI on request.

Where are the calculations performed? Does our data go to third-party servers?

Accepted Answer

Calculations run in a closed loop on your server: AI Technologist is deployed locally (on-premise); drawings and data never leave your perimeter.

If we use our own manufacturing technology rather than GOST — can the system account for it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Through uploaded regulatory documents, an equipment catalogue and a knowledge base (historical data, GOSTs, your own process plans and norms), all updated flexibly with full version history. The system accounts for differences between methods (e.g. plasma vs. laser) in operation count and accuracy and offers matching recommendations.

Is the system multi-user?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Concurrent request capacity depends on your hardware. Access can be granted to staff from different departments (managers, process engineers). A task queue is built in: batch uploads are queued and processed as resources allow — even modest hardware handles the load efficiently.

How does the system track drawing changes — material, dimensions, executions?

Accepted Answer

Calculation versioning and version storage are built in. By part number and name the system tracks variants: upload a new version, the system finds the differences and recalculates. All versions are stored and easy to compare.

What if a single drawing carries multiple executions of the same product?

Accepted Answer

Resolved during rollout via fine-tuning. At the discovery stage you provide a sample of drawings and mark places where executions vary — this is worked through separately. After setup, the system asks the user which execution to consider, or suggests clarifying parameters when data conflicts.

What if the drawing is an assembly with multiple parts and sub-assemblies?

Accepted Answer

We process it as a whole. The system recognises the "product — sub-assembly — part" hierarchy, builds a BOM tree and generates a process plan for each element, then sums total assembly labour. If positions are marked on the drawing, the AI links them. Complex cases (100+ parts) may take up to 10 minutes — still faster than manual entry.

Can we calculate not from a drawing but from a tech spec, RFQ or sketch — with work types and quantitative figures (metres, kg, area)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For the AI there's no fundamental difference — drawings can also carry information as continuous text or tables. A handwritten drawing with text descriptions of technical information works too.

Can we calculate by work type — separately for assembly, welding, cutting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This is reflected in the JSON tab. The more data is passed in during setup and operation, the deeper the analysis and the more accurate the result.

How is the knowledge base built? Do we add the norms, documents and standards ourselves?

Accepted Answer

You point us to sources: a website, a folder on a company server, Excel spreadsheets, scans or screenshots, lists of GOSTs and so on — the key requirement is that the information is in graphical or text form. From there, AI helps to systematise it: collects, processes and converts into a working format.

What's the accuracy of time-norm calculation?

Accepted Answer

88–95% on your own data. You provide 30–50 reference drawings with finished process plans and times — the model trains on them. We then test against a control sample and tune settings if the deviation exceeds the allowed limit. Target accuracy and the data package you provide are fixed in the scope of work.

Can the system account for equipment workload and offer alternatives when a machine is busy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With ERP integration, the system analyses equipment load and suggests alternative execution paths.

Question 14

Where does the program get the order of movements between operations? Ours are specific.

Accepted Answer

By default the demo uses an averaged value. During rollout we set up movement times between shops and routing logic together — afterwards you can adjust parameters yourself via the equipment catalogue, regulatory documents and calculation history.

Can we link CNC machines or CAD systems to AI Technologist for automation?

Accepted Answer

If your machines can exchange data — integration is possible, but it requires a separate discovery within the project. There's no off-the-shelf one-size-fits-all solution: it depends on the plant, the equipment software and the data you need to pass and process.

What does it integrate with?

Accepted Answer

With 1C (ERP/MES/CA/SBM) and PLM/PDM systems. In Professional and Enterprise editions — two-way data exchange and task distribution integration.

Is AI Technologist a fit for our manufacturing?

Accepted Answer

It works best on serial and unit-serial production with a regular flow of new drawings. If you have 2 new parts a year, the economics are weaker than for plants with 50+ per month.

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Licence cost depends on the edition (Basic / Standard / Professional / Enterprise). Pre-project discovery and rollout are billed separately. Exact figures at a meeting, once we understand the scope.

How fast can we launch a pilot?

Accepted Answer

A baseline pilot on 1–2 drawings takes 2 to 4 weeks. Production rollout with integrations takes 1 to 3 months depending on the landscape.

What about support and SLA?

Accepted Answer

Professional and Enterprise editions come with SLA and support. Basic and Standard get standard ticket-based support.

What happens after the pilot?
